What a strange month this has been! On a global canvas, we face a war not of our making. It seems that history will teach us nothing; and again, ordinary folk suffer for no good reason.
Then, in my local community (Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales, Australia), the worst rains in 20 years or more have left families praying for help on their roofs. Others died, swept away in their cars, or trapped in their homes.
So, the community formed a mud army to clear the stinking debris, or to donate to—and cook for—the people who lost everything. Our community came together to help when we knew where support was needed. The State Emergency Services personnel were on the ground immediately. Eventually, Defence Force personnel came to help in thousands.
Emergency services struggle as ‘life-threatening’ flood crisis worsens

I am so grateful for the goodness we have seen in people. The response to the emergency was (and still is) overwhelming.
In the interim, it’s great to know that we can exercise, craft, paint, write or make big plans to take our minds to a better place. That is a good thing. It doesn’t make us ignorant or unsympathetic—it keeps us sane.
A comment on my community page touched me:
“Sometimes doing a Pilates class or something similar can be that person’s mindfulness activity which allows them to refocus and be able to face what they are dealing with. Am I a bad person for spending time doing my diamond dotz, as it centred my thoughts, and I didn’t get so overwhelmed by the water lapping at our steps and coming through the roof in our back room???????? Yes, people including myself and husband and other family members and friends have been affected, however if I am stressing and getting overwhelmed because I can’t balance my thoughts, I am no good to anyone”.
Here is a short, free Pilates video, including a quick warm-up, back strengthening and stretch.
I’ve also made a short video to help release a tight back.

More to follow… 😊 I’d love your honest feedback to help me improve my YouTube content.
For example, I’ve received feedback about the varying audio in the Pilates video shared here, and this is something I’ll improve in the future!
No more war, and here’s to a brighter tomorrow. Thank you for reading 🙂
Namaste! Annie.
